"Landscape
conservation"
strives to foster
a comprehensive series of initiatives that can be carried out in a coordinated way to implement
activities through multiple disciplines on a regional or watershed basis.
The initiative will provide coordination, cooperation
and communication with:
-
multiple agencies and levels of government,
-
multiple public and private sector "partners," and
-
multiple landowners in a county, region or distinct
geographic area.
It will implement multiple
programs in a coordinated fashion. And it will promote and encourage:
-
community-based actions;
-
voluntary, incentive-based conservation; and
-
seamless, easy-to-understand, easy-to-participate
methods of conservation delivery.
It also will take a "holistic" approach to regional issues
by simultaneously addressing and integrating efforts to advance:
-
sustainable land use;
-
a recognition of private property rights;
-
responsible land ownership (i.e, "stewardship");
-
landowner equity;
-
the profitability of different land
uses through new and existing business entities and technologies;
-
a coordinated approach to regulatory requirements;
and
-
conservation.
